YEAR 10 REPORT:
Celebrations
Year 10 has been one big celebration over the past few weeks. We have enjoyed a very special night together at our Graduation Dinner, where our students looked amazing and danced, laughed, reminisced and shared a meal together. The Presentation and Graduation Assemblies were also highlights, with many of our students being recognised for their myriad of achievements this year.
A number of our students have secured apprenticeships and traineeships for next year; a big congratulations to those people!
Most of all, we would like to celebrate 4 wonderful years together and the amount of personal growth that each and every single one of our students has experienced. It is a rare privilege to lead a group of students from their first day of Year 7 to their final day of Year 10, and we could not be more proud of the amazing young adults they have become.
Mr Stokes and I would also like to thank the incredible teachers who have supported them along the way and all of you – the parents and carers of these wonderful human beings. Thanks for trusting us with your kids – we know that they are your whole universe and we are grateful that you have trusted us to play a small part in this chapter of their lives.
Grade Focus
When I sat down to think of a ‘focus’ for our wonderful grade as they enter the next chapter of their lives, I couldn’t think of a better way to sum it up than this excerpt from the Graduation Assembly speech, written by Mr. Stokes…
As you reach this part of your life, where you are moving towards an exciting future onto a wide variety of pathways, whether that be college, further education, an apprenticeship or traineeship, it is important to remember all of the valuable lessons that you have learned so far and how you can use those to be the most successful person that you can be. Regardless of what pathway your life takes you on, it is so important that you make a positive impact on our world and leave with a legacy that you are proud of. Ensure that you cherish the relationships with your friends and family as having a support network around you when life takes an unexpected turn is crucial. Continue to build on your resilience, as the ability to tackle challenges and bounce back will hold you in good stead to face some of life’s bigger challenges along the way. Continue to set goals, and work towards whatever future you want for yourself and dream big. Nothing is out of reach for you and you will only achieve those dreams if you continue to take steps towards them, not matter how big or how small those steps are. Remember that life will throw curve balls at you along the way and that is part of the adventure. Some of these will be challenging, some of these will lead to a better outcome, but in the end it will lead you to where you need to be in your life. On behalf of the Kings Meadows High School community, we wish you all the best as you move towards the next stage of your lives. We have been so lucky to work with such a strong, positive, conscientious and compassionate group of students and we can’t wait to hear about all of your achievements in your futures.
Best of luck, Year 10 - we adore you and we are going to miss you so much.
