WELCOME BBQ:

We have had a great start to the year thanks to some outstanding preparation from our wonderful teaching and dedicated teams. I’m always delighted when I see our senior students step up and lead.  They have certainly been great peer support to our Grade 7 students helping with a range of administrative activities.   The whole school approach to welcoming our Grade 7 students has created a seamless and enjoyable transition to High School.  Thanks especially to Miss Males, Ms Vernon and Mrs Poslon for developing and implementing a comprehensive student transition program that has underpinned our wonderful start to Grade 7.

Thank you to all parents and carers for ensuring that our students have been prepared for their start to High School.  As always, we invite parent contact as we know relationships between home and school are key to our students experiencing success.

Our annual Welcome BBQ was held on Monday 17th February.  It was wonderful to observe proud students sharing with younger siblings their new classroom, locker and student common room.  We were especially appreciative when our students introduced us to their family it was so very nice to meet everyone. We look forward to continuing the conversations about social, emotional and academic achievement over the course of this year.  Good partnerships between home and school supports our students to achieve.  For day to day information at school the first person to contact is your child’s class teacher.

You may find your child is more tired at the end of this week.  Negotiating new routines, finding classrooms, experiencing new subjects and developing relationships is exhausting work.  Please encourage your child to enjoy plenty of sleep each night.  The Australian Parenting website suggests just over 9 hours sleep for teenagers.  For more information:

Plenty of sleep will support your child to be ready for learning and to face the challenges and wonderful opportunities on offer at Kings Meadows High School.
