YEAR 7 REPORT:
Term 1 is flying by and our Year 7’s have really settled in to school life here at Kings Meadows High School. A few weeks ago Year 7 students attended their first formal full school assembly (Induction Assembly), where they watched Year 10’s receive their blazers and be inducted into office. This was a good practice for them as there will be many occasions like this in the future. There will be one more formal assembly this term, in Week 10, where student achievement is celebrated and we also commemorate Anzac Day.
As students are becoming more comfortable with routines here at Kings Meadows High School it is timely to remind them and families of some basic expectations that help support us all here as members of the school community:
- Hands on Behaviour: This is not tolerated and consequences will be given to students who engage in dangerous and physical behaviour.
- Lateness to School: We have started to see many Year 7’s needing to sign-in as they are not arriving to school on time. Please aim to be at school by 8:30am ready for the first bell at 8:35am.
- Organisation at break times: Students are reminded to make sure they have everything they need for recess and lunch 5 minutes after breaks start as classrooms are locked.
- Toilet visits during class: We are seeing a worrying amount of students asking to use the toilet multiple times during lessons. A reminder to please use the toilet at break times as much as possible.
- Off and Away: Some students have already received consequences for being on their phones during the school day. A reminder that they are to turned off and locked away in lockers as soon as they school day starts and that is where they remain.
Attendance Focus: Every day at school matters and we are displaying class attendance data in our corridor spaces. Classes displaying consistently good will earn Class of Kings points for our Class Teacher competition.
