Thanks to the generous support of Allans Garden Centre in Prospect, one of our students has had the chance to experience the full journey of food — from nurturing seedlings to preparing a meal.

Earlier this year, Allans Garden Centre kindly welcomed us on an excursion to select a range of baby vegetables to bring back and grow in our school hothouse. With care and patience, the plants were tended to daily — watered, monitored, and encouraged to thrive. Under the quiet guidance of Teaching Assistant Priscilla, this project became not just about gardening, but about responsibility and pride in seeing something grow from effort and persistence.

Once the vegetables were ready to harvest, the experience continued in the kitchen. From cleaning and sorting to cutting and sharing, each step offered a chance to learn valuable kitchen skills and explore how different vegetables can come together to make a meal.

This project truly embodied the spirit of learning by doing — connecting sustainability, life skills, and healthy living in a meaningful, hands-on way.
