Celebrations

With only a few days until school holidays, students and staff in the Grade 8 team are looking forward to a well-deserved break! It has been a fantastic term, with some great learning, some team bonding experiences in our grade, and a lot of career and life planning opportunities during our My Education days.

We would like to congratulate all students who applied for the role of Beacon Student Ambassador for 2021. The panel met earlier this month to shortlist applications. This was incredibly difficult given the high calibre of all the applicants! Students who were successful in receiving interviews were then interviewed by a panel and we were fortunate enough to have Dr Catherine Hughes and Mr Ian Hart from the Rotary Club volunteering their time to be part of this process. Students were asked a series of questions about leadership and then they were presented with a scenario. By talking us through how they would approach this scenario, students provided us with an insight into the qualities and strengths they would bring to the role. Students were also asked to identify areas where they could grow or improve, to strengthen their leadership skills. In Grade 8, we believe in the motto “You don’t have to be bad, to get better!”. This means that all of us are lifelong learners and all of our life experiences provide us with the opportunity for growth, reflection and self-development.
