GRADE 9 REPORT:

Celebrations

The past two weeks at school have flown and as this article is being written we have only 7 school days left of Term 3. The focus for Grade 9 this term has been all about developing leadership in every student. We have asked our students to strive to achieve their best, to lead by example and be exemplary students of Kings Meadows High School. Last week some of our Grade 9 students were able to put their developing skills into practice acting as mentors to the Grade 6 students visiting our school for Challenge day. From all reports they did a fantastic job of making the students feel most welcome and accepted at Kings Meadows High School.

In our Learning Areas the Grade 9s have been focussing on a variety of concepts and modules. In English they are currently studying novel study. In Maths the focus in on Linear Relationships. Science are completing a unit on Chemistry focussing on Acids and Bases and HaSS has a focus on Federation studies. HPE is completing a unit on Australian Sports Culture following with Athletics in the practical component and in theory we are continuing with Respectful Relationships.

Our leadership journey for our Grade 9 students is well underway. This week students have been completing formal interviews with members of our teaching staff and this year’s leadership board students. All applicants did an exceptional job and should be congratulated on their organisation and preparation for their interviews. The next process of elimination will be a tough one.  This week our students will receive a letter stating the outcome of this interview process and whether they are successful in gaining selection onto the leadership ballot paper and for speeches. We wish all of our Grade 9’s the best of luck in this process.

Grade Focus

Our focus for Grade 9 this term continues to be developing formal and informal leadership in all of our students as we head into our final term for Grade 9. We will be continuing to apply good learning behaviours and academic rigour, ensuring that deadlines are being met and that we have caught up on anything we are behind in.
