ACHIEVEMENTS:
Another great achievement from Abbie Butler at the National Athletics titles in Perth. Abbie won her first national medal (gold) in the 2000m Steeplechase and backed up the next day finishing 9th in the 3000m. Well Done Abbie a fantastic achievement.
Paige Gibson and Ashia Stanley were involved in the Launceston College Dance Fever GRIT. This is a huge commitment for the girls who have been rehearsing since the beginning of Term 2. It was a fantastic Show! Great work girls’ wonderful ambassadors for KMHS.
Alex Jordan is congratulated on winning the Senior T20 cricket final with Longford - fielding really well.
Summer Kelly is commended on her efforts and driving us to become a more sustainable school.
F1 RED SPRITE RACERS:
After having come away from our last F1 in Schools competition as State Champions, the Red Sprites Racing Team is preparing for the National Finals in March of 2020.
Our current focus is on publicity in the aim of making our name a known one. This will help as we continue to contact businesses around Tasmania and even around the world in hope of receiving material, mentorship or financial support. We would like to take the opportunity to thank everyone who has supported the team over the past few years and also mention our sponsors which made our journey to winning the State final possible - Island Block and Paving, Definium Technologies, Reece Plumbing, Think Big, Tamar River Cruises, Wyllie Tiles, YMCA and Chilli FM.
If you would like to hear more about the competition, follow us on Instagram @redspritesracing or send us an email at redspritescbce@gmail.com.
Grade Focus
Term 4 student leaders are focusing on their transition to leadership in 2020 with shadowing days and an official handover. On our My Education days the theme with student consultation was investigating SUSTAINABILITY and making positive choices and contributions on meeting the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their needs. The Grade 9s worked in various groups throughout the day and being involved in activities including making bees wax wraps, worm farms, plant propagation, tree planting, irrigation, paper making and video recording and photography. Well done to the Grade on some outstanding days!
Upcoming events
19 December - Grade 7, 8 and 9 Picnic at Bridport - last day for students.
Finally the Grade 9 team would like to wish all families a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year and we look forward to all students returning in 2020 after a restful break.
