GRADE 10 REPORT:

Celebrations

As always our Grade 10 students have continued to make some outstanding achievements right up until the end of the year.

Congratulations must go to Caitlin Jordan (10A) and Abbie Watt (10A). Both Caitlin and Abbie are members of ‘AllStar Cheer and Dance’ and recently competed at nationals in Melbourne. It is fantastic to see both girls take make the most of opportunities that are presented to them outside of school. Congratulations to Abbie’s team Odin who were named National Champions.

Our sporting success continues with Charlotte Layton (10E) being named in the U/18 women’s state cricket team and will be travelling to Hobart and Launceston for games in January. Charlotte is certainly making an impact on the pitch at the moment, congratulations on your achievement, we are looking forward to seeing more future cricket success from you.

Phoebe Withington (10C) has also been named in the State U/18 Indoor Hockey team and has made the squad for the U/18 Outdoor team. She will be travelling to Wollongong for the indoor tournament. Well done Phoebe, such a fantastic achievement.

Another budding sporting star, Sam Talbot (10B) last weekend ran in the Stan Siejka Launceston Cycling classic ‘St Luke’s 5k Running Challenge’. This is an invitation only, handicap event open to elite runners across Tasmania. Well done Sam for gaining an invite, it was certainly an entertaining race.

Last week our Prefect’s held their final ‘Kings’ Culture Week’ a whole week full of lunchtime activities to help celebrate the end of the year. This is the third term in a row that the Prefects have run these activity weeks at school and is a fantastic initiative that we hope will continue next year. The Prefects then teamed with the House Captains to host ‘Kings Big Day Out’ on Friday afternoon. This was a fun filled afternoon of food vans, activities, music and a staff vs students basketball game. Well done, this was a well-executed and organised event. Congratulations to both leadership teams.

The Prefects have been working hard on their canteen refurbishment, but would like to acknowledge the hard work of Jessica Hunter (10A) and Hayley McCubbin (10A). Both Jess and Hayley have been working together to create a series of mural windows which will be hung in the Canteen as part of the Prefects' legacy gift. They have taken much time and care throughout this project and we look forward to seeing the end products.

Finally the Grade 10 teaching team would like to thank the our Grade 10 students for a fantastic Celebration Dinner which was held last Thursday night at the Country Club Casino. It was certainly a night to remember with speeches made by Kaiden Page (10A), Angie Collins (10D), Makala Bingley (10B), Eliza Matthews (10D), Matthew Beechey (10E) and Akbar Rajab Ali (10A). We hope students and staff had an enjoyable evening.
