THANK YOU FROM THE PREFECTS:
On behalf of the 2019 Prefect Board we would like to thank the students, staff and community that have supported us and our fundraisers throughout the year. Our events could not have been successful without all of you and we greatly appreciate your support shown.
At this stage, in our legacy gift of refurbishing the canteen, the murals are currently being painted and the new furniture for the canteen has been ordered and will arrive early next year. We are excited to provide students with a new, vibrant and relaxing environment to hang out in at break times and are proud that we have been able to contribute to refurbishing spaces for our present and future students. The fundraisers towards our legacy gift include: Twin Day, Trivia Night, selling fundraising chocolates, hosting a canteen at Term 1 Drama Night and Kings’ Culture Week Activities. We all received a grant from the Launceston City Council which has gone towards the painting of our murals each of which promote a sustainability message.
As the 2019 Prefect Board we have proudly held a number of events to support local charities including: The Leukaemia Foundation through The World’s Greatest Shave and The Great Coin Line Challenge, Bandana Day supporting CanTeen and ‘Sun’ Day ‘Fun’ Day raising awareness and money for the Cancer Council Tasmania. We also promoted positive mental health within our school and community through marking ‘R U OK Day?’ and volunteering at the Launceston Lions Club ‘Daffodil Day’ event. We were fortunate enough to be invited to attend a number of events in our community including: GRIP Leadership Conference, ANZAC Day services in Launceston, Perth, Evandale and Longford, Remembrance Day at the Longford Cenotaph, Lions Club of Kings Meadows Meeting, Inspiring Women in Leadership Luncheon, International Women’s Day, KMHS School Association Meetings and 2020 Grade 7 Transition Parent Information Evenings. Within our school we have held ‘Kings’ Culture Week’, a whole week dedicated to providing students with fun activities at lunchtimes to promote positive school culture and celebrate the end of each term and contributed to the running of ‘Kings’ Big Day Out’ working together with the House Captains during Term 4. It has certainly been a busy year and we are grateful for the opportunities we have been able to take advantage of and contribution we have made to our local community.
A huge thank you once again to those who have supported us throughout this year. We would like to mention a few people who have been crucial in success this year - Mrs Gibbons, Mrs Ponting, Mrs Rigby, Mrs Dalton, Mrs Pinnington, Jaqui Howard, Jessica Hunter, Hayley McCubbin, Emma Magnusson-Reid, Anita Gorham and Mrs Wightman. Thank you for your ongoing advice and support of the Prefect Board, none of our events would have been possible without the input of these people.
We would also like to thank the many businesses who have donated goods towards our events and fundraisers. Unfortunately there are too many to name, however we have acknowledged their contributions in previous newsletter articles and also sent them thank you cards. It is so fantastic that our community can come together and support one another to make positive change.
We would like to wish good luck to the 2020 Prefect Board, we hope you’re successful with your future endeavours and carry out the C-Cubed Principle (Culture Courage & Creativity) next year. We know you’ll do great things for our school and community.
